Your eyesight is important. That’s why it’s important to try and see an optometrist on a regular basis in order to identify any potential issues that could be affecting your eyes. If you’re experiencing signs that you should go for an eye exam – do not hesitate! Today we are showing three signs that tell you that it is time to book an eye exam:
Eye Pain
When you’re experiencing prolonged pain in your body, most people know that it’s time to go see a doctor and get examined. However, oftentimes people will push back on eye pain, telling themselves that their eyes are just fatigued from watching too much TV or that something may have poked their eye. However, if you’re experiencing eye pain, it’s important that you go and get your eyes examined.
Pain in your eyes can point toward an infection in your eye which can be treated through things like eye drops. However, pain in your eyes could also indicate something more serious. When there’s a problem with your eyes it’s always best to get it checked out as early as possible. The earlier an issue is identified, the easier it may be to treat.
Blurry Vision
If you’re experiencing blurry vision, there may be something more serious at play. Many people shrug off blurry vision as a sign of getting older. If your vision is slowly getting blurrier over time, it may be as simple as changing your prescription. However, if your vision has gotten blurry at a sudden rate and it comes and goes, or is limited to one eye, it’s important to book an appointment (or even go to the ER) as quickly as possible!
Sudden blurry vision can be caused by a variety of issues with your eyes, and is not something you want to put off. See your eye doctor as soon as possible!
Problems Seeing At Night
As you get older, your vision at night can naturally start to decrease, even though you may be able to see perfectly fine during the daytime. While poor night vision is likely a case of ageing, it’s still important to get your eyes checked out if you’re experiencing this. It may indicate that something more serious is developing.
Problems with night vision may also be a sign that you are developing cataracts. Cataracts are something that needs to be identified through an eye exam. While surgery may be necessary to completely remove cataracts, identifying it early may allow your eye doctor to be able to slow down its progression.
Your eye health is important, which is why regular eye exams are important. If you’re experiencing any eye pain or vision problems, it’s important that you book an eye exam as soon as possible! Looking to book an eye exam? Contact Rideau Optometric today!
